Silverfin - The Graphic Novel by Charlie Higson and Kev Walker

What's it about? Silverfin is the young James Bond books based around his years at Eton. They're usually in novel form but this is the first of the series to be turned into a graphic novel drawn Marvel Comics illustrator Kev Walker. It's a fantastic read which sees the young spy start at Eton and making enemies. He doesn't belong there but with his parents having died in a climbing accident, he's forced to attend. The rest of the book sees him in Scotland where a Laird (Scottish Lord) is conducting hideous experiments which James will have to either stop or see the world doomed.
Ginger Snaps by Cathy Cassidy

What's it about? Sometimes being a girl is tough and friendships can be even tougher which is why we love Ginger Snaps by Cathy Cassidy. It's all about Ginger who's finally got rid of her puppy fat and pig-tails and things are finally on the up for her. She and her bezzie Shannon decide to befriend Emily but Shannon isn't so sure and they begin to drift apart. Ginger fancies Sam who seems to like her back but Shannon doesn't like him and Ginger finds herself beginning to keep secrets from her. We loved this book for reminding us how difficult friendships could be when you're 13.
